Self-Paced Prealgebra 2 opens this August
August 1, 2019
Ever since our self-paced Prealgebra 1 course opened in June, we’ve received more than a few questions about when self-paced Prealgebra 2 would be available.
After working all summer, we are excited to announce that our new self-paced Prealgebra 2 course will be open for access on August 27! Students who are unable to attend live classes or prefer to advance at their own rate can now do so with our automated, interactive lessons.
You can find Prealgebra 2 course information through our course catalog. In addition, we will be hosting a Math Jam to answer your most pressing questions on Tuesday, August 27 at 7:30 ET (4:30 PT).
Can I enroll now?
If you want to sign up right away, you can pre-enroll for self-paced Prealegbra 2 on the Prealgebra 2 Self-Paced course page. Students who are pre-enrolled will gain immediate access on August 27.
After August 27, new students may enroll at any time. Access begins at the time of enrollment and lasts for 9 months, allowing students to complete the course on their own schedule.
Do I need books?
The AoPS Prealgebra textbook is required (the same textbook used for our Prealgebra 1 course). You can order books during the enrollment process.
We recommend the online book for this course, but students may also use the physical edition. Students must be signed in to their AoPS account on any device with a modern web browser to access their online books (this does not include most Kindle or Nook devices). Online books cannot be downloaded and read while offline.
What if I change my mind after enrolling?
Our self-paced courses can be dropped up to 14 days after enrollment for a refund. We want students to join a class that best meets their needs, so we encourage students to switch if their initial choice is not a good fit. If you want to switch from a weekly live course to a self-paced course, you can do so by contacting us at email@example.com within the drop period.
What if I have other questions?
We are holding a Math Jam on August 27 for this exact purpose! Our curriculum developers will be available to discuss both of our self-paced courses, Prealgebra 1 and Prealgebra 2, and answer any of your questions.
How can I participate?
To participate in a Math Jam, you or your student will need a free AoPS Online account. If you don’t have an account, we’ve put together this video to walk you through the steps to set one up.
If your student is under 13, it’s important to create an account early so that you can get the necessary COPPA paperwork submitted ahead of time.
How to Join the Math Jam
Make sure you’ve logged in to the Art of Problem Solving with your AoPS Online account. About 10 minutes before the Math Jam is scheduled to begin, a dark blue bar will appear at the top of the site announcing the Math Jam is in session, as seen below:
Click on the bar to be taken into the session. Math Jams are typically about 90 minutes long.
See you in a few weeks! Remember, join us at the Math Jam on Tuesday, August 27 at 7:30 ET (4:30 PT).
