Weekly Update: Math Jams, Math League, and more Spring Classes starting
February 18, 2019
On Tuesday, February 19th, Marisa Debowsky is going to join us for a Math Jam to discuss one of the biggest math camps in the US.
Ms. Debowsky is the Executive Director of the Canada/USA Mathcamp, and you can ask just about anyone who’s attended – it’s the place to go to meet other math-minded students. You might even see one of the AoPS team members on the mathcamp home page! It’s a great time, and we’re excited to spend the evening discussing what it’s like, who should apply, and other details.
Tuesday also sees several Math League contests for grades 6, 7, and 8. Contests take place either the 3rd Tuesday in February, on the 19th, or the 4th Tuesday, which would be the 26th. They’ve recently posted the contest results for their high school competitions; if you were a competitor or you’re curious how stiff the competition is, you can see the results for yourself on their site.
Our Spring Classes also continue to have new sessions starting; the classes starting this week include:
- Prealgebra 1 (Friday)
- Introduction to Algebra A (Tuesday, Friday)
- Introduction to Counting & Probability (Wednesday)
- Introduction to Geometry (Tuesday)
More classes will be starting in March, so students hoping to get ahead for the Fall semester will still have time to complete a full course before the next school year.
Our summer course schedule has been announced as well, so if you’d like to see what courses are available and could work with you or your students’ summer schedule, you can review the class schedule here.
