Who Should Take?

This class is appropriate for students who are interested in MATHCOUNTS and want to show what they can do on this contest.

Students just getting started with middle-school math contests should consider our MATHCOUNTS/AMC 8 Basics course. Students with more consistent success in these contests (in particular, students who score 15+ on the AMC 8 or 25+ on Chapter-level MATHCOUNTS competitions) should consider our MATHCOUNTS/AMC 8 Advanced course. See our MATHCOUNTS guide for a comparison between the Basics and Advanced courses.

Students who have not completed a pre-algebra class (or equivalent training through prior preparation for MATHCOUNTS) should start with our Introduction series of classes rather than our MATHCOUNTS class. Please visit our Course Recommendations page to determine which class is best for you.

Lessons

Lesson 1 Problem Solving Tactics
Lesson 2 Number Theory
Lesson 3 Algebra, Part 1
Lesson 4 Algebra, Part 2
Lesson 5 Word Problems
Lesson 6 Sequences and Series
Lesson 7 Counting
Lesson 8 Probability
Lesson 9 Geometry, Part 1
Lesson 10 Geometry, Part 2
Lesson 11 Logic and Imagination
Lesson 12 Countdown

MATHCOUNTS/AMC 8 Basics class has been a very helpful class to me. I learned a lot of new things, including 45-45-90 triangles, various formulas and theorems, and how hard counting really is. I will definitely take another AoPS class in the future.
