Special AMC 8 Problem Seminar A
This course is a special 5hour weekend seminar to prepare for the AMC 8, which is the premier fall math contest for middle school students. The AMC 8 also gives students early problemsolving experience that is valuable towards the highschool level AMC 10 and AMC 12 contests, which are the first stage in determining the United States team for the International Math Olympiad. In this course, students learn problem solving strategies and testtaking tactics. The course also includes a practice AMC 8 test. This course covers entirely different problems than the Special AMC 8 Problem Seminar B, but is the same as the Special AMC 8 Problem Seminar offered prior to 2019.

Who Should Take?
This class is appropriate for students in grade 8 or below attempting to make the Honor Roll on the AMC 8.
If a student already consistently scores above 18 on the AMC 8, this class is probably not necessary.
If a student is unlikely to score more than 8 on the AMC 8, that student should consider our Prealgebra curriculum.
The material for this class is distinct from the
Special AMC 8 Problem Seminar B, but is the same as the 2018 Special AMC 8 Seminar.
