Problem

The largest number in the set {$0.109, 0.2, 0.111, 0.114, 0.19$} is

$\text{(A)}\ 0.109 \qquad \text{(B)}\ 0.2 \qquad \text{(C)}\ 0.111 \qquad \text{(D)}\ 0.114 \qquad \text{(E)}\ 0.19$

Solution

To figure out which number is largest, we look first at the number in the tenths position. Since four of the given numbers have a 1 in the tenths position and $0.2$ has a $2$, then $0.2$ is the largest. The answer is $B$.
