What is the community portal supposed to be used for, and what's the difference between that and this discussion thing?

When more purpose takes shape, the Community Portal will be reorganized and given a more clear purpose.--MCrawford 23:31, 17 June 2006 (EDT)

I've created a new idea for the Community portal. Thoughts? Azjps (talk) 11:47, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Absolutely and utterly repulsive and disgusting. Could you please possibly make a new mockup page before you go reorganize things? That way we can provide feedback on it before we need to revert it.--solafidefarms 11:30, 7 April 2007 (EDT)

IMHO any re-organization of the A:CP beats a long rambling and un-followable discussion … but oh well, guess this proves that my HTML/CSS abilities are terrible. Time to trash my userpage ;).
For future reference, what was so “utterly repulsive and disgusting” about it (the constructive criticism and politeness really helps)? I spent quite a bit of effort with the WP community portal in my mind as a foundation. Azjps (talk) 16:20, 10 April 2007 (EDT)
