Math Crazy Kids Need Some Summer Fun?

“Camp was amazing!”

“I really enjoyed all the activities and the guest speakers. I didn’t realize how many jobs I could actually use math in.”

Those are comments from students have attended Math Contest Camp in the past. Over the course of seven years, 275 campers in 5th-12th grade have attended for one week of fun with math and other math-loving kids and counselors.

If you have students who love math and challenges, pass this information on to them and their parents. This summer (2013), there will be three separate one week camps: June 23-28 for students entering 6th-8th grades, July 7-122 for students entering 5th-7th grades and July 14-19 for students entering 8th-12th grade. All weeks of camp are held on the campus of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO.

Along with various math activities, the campers can participate in other activities. Such activities as rock climbing, pool time, and indoor and outdoor games.

The camp is directed by Dr. Kevin Hopkins, the chairman of the math department at SBU, but SBU is not a sponsor of the camp.

Math Contest Camp costs $375 a week. That covers room and board(with 2-3 students per room), a t-shirt and bag, group photo, and activities at the Wellness Center on campus.
