Regional Competition

Oklahoma calls chapter competition as regionals. There are five distinct regions. Each region competes on a certain date.

  • Central: first weekend of February or last weekend of January
  • East central: one week after central
  • Eastern: two weeks after central
  • Northwestern: three weeks after central
  • Southwestern: four weeks after central

The most competitive of these five regions are the ones with Oklahoma's two major metropolis: east central (Tulsa) and central (Oklahoma City/Norman).

The selection process for advancing towards state competition is the same as all states. Countdown round is not used to determine state qualification.

State Competition

State competition is usually held on the first weekend of March. Approximately $80-88$ students compete each year. Countdown round is official and has caused fourth place written to not make nationals.
