Writing scholarships

The following list of writing scholarships — scholarships granted based primarily upon a submitted essay — is primarily for American students. This list can be reorganized to incorporate scholarship programs in other countries. Just make that reorganization as clear and as clean as possible.

Additions to this list are welcomed and encouraged. Please don't be stingy about letting students in on how they can finance their educations!

General Writing Scholarships

• Future Lawyer Scholarship is open to a deserving law student who authors the winning submission in their essay contest.

• Addiction Awareness Scholarship is open to any major who can shed light on this issue. It may be a personal story that you can share or a more researched essay.
• AES Engineers Scholarships of 500 dollars for high school seniors and college students. Students do not have to be taking engineering courses. Winners are selected based on their essays.
• ALBA Essay Contest
• Amaze Invent Buyer Guide Scholarship is open to all individuals who are enrolled in High School, University or College as a full-time student.
• Arts Recognition and Talent Search Awards for high school and college students (17, 18 years of age) who excel in the in the literary, visual and performing arts, including dance, cinematic arts, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice, and writing.
• AutoAccident.com Scholarship USD 1000 for high school seniors who will be attending college in the fall semester of 2020. Deadline May 1, 2020. The essay should be approximately 500 words in length. In your own words, please tell us how you'd make the streets a safer place for everyone and reduce auto accidents.
• B. Davis Scholarship. 1,000 dollars for winning essay.
• BadCredit.org Wealth Wise Scholarship for students who intend to pursue a career in the finance industry.
• Baumgartner Law Firm Law Student Scholarship Application is available to students who are currently enrolled at an accredited law school.
• BELK Tile Scholarship Program for students who is currently enrolled, or plan to be enrolled during the upcoming academic semester at a USA university as an undergraduate or graduate student.
• Bosterbio.com Scholarships Program for students with an interest in pursuing or continuing a 4-year academic program related to Biology Technology.
• Business Studies Scholarship Program Participants enrolled in a higher learning degree granting program from any country may apply for the scholarship program.
• CardRates.com Financial Futures Scholarship for students who intend to pursue a career in the finance industry.
• Chester Entrepreneur Scholarship helps students jumpstart their businesses while in school.
• Courtroom Crew Trial Attorney Student Scholarship - USD 1000 for awarded to a law school student who is currently enrolled in a Law School.
• Creative Communication Poetry and Essay Contests
• Dirk Derrick Car & Truck Accident Injury Scholarship, a 1000 dollars scholarship for those affected by auto accidents
• Design for Recovery Sober Living Scholarship Opportunity wants to offer a USD 1000 scholarship to help students who fight every day to overcome the devastating effects of addiction. If you or a loved one deal with alcoholism or drug addiction, we want to hear from you.
• The Douglas Psychotherapy Do Good General Education Scholarship wants to offer USD 1,000 scholarships for college attendees. In order to be considered, write how you will use your education/training to do good in the world in 200 words or less.
• Eagle Touch Technologies - Youth Forward Scholarship Program USD 3000 scholarship to any college students who are interested in science and technology, and who have enthusiasm and specific ideas especially in the area of Touch Display Technology.
• The Electric Mobile Device Management IT Innovation Scholarship A USD 1,000 Scholarship for current or soon-to-be undergrad who has a passion for innovating in the mobile IT (software or hardware) space. Deadline is Nov 1st each year.
• Essaytime Scholarship USD 1000 for full-time student. 500-800 word essay.
• Fitness and Educational Scholarships Submit a 1,000 to 1,500 word article on the topic “Importance of physical fitness in student life”
• Greg Baumgartner Scholarship is open to high school or college in the United States. To apply, please write a very short essay (not to exceed 200 words) about yourself, your educational goals and the reasons for needing a scholarship.

• Inspirational Stories: Scholarship Any high school senior or college/university student is eligible to participate. The winner will also be acknowledged on our website aside from earning the scholarship.

• The Maison Law Central Valley Community Scholarship Program aims to reward a graduating high school senior student - $2,000 in annual scholarships. Submit an essay of approximately 500 words telling us “How you would make the streets of the Central Valley (or your city) safer”
