Congratulations to all the mathletes who competed at National MATHCOUNTS! If you missed the exciting Countdown Round, you can watch the video at this link. Are you interested in training for MATHCOUNTS or AMC 10 contests? How would you like to train for these math competitions in half the time? We have accelerated sections which meet twice per week instead of once starting on July 8th (7:30pm ET). These sections fill quickly so enroll today!

MATHCOUNTS/AMC 8 Basics

MATHCOUNTS/AMC 8 Advanced

AMC 10 Problem Series
For those interested in Olympiad level training in math, computer science, physics, and chemistry, be sure to enroll in our WOOT courses before August 19th to take advantage of early bird pricing!

Summer camps are starting this month at the Virtual Campus in math and language arts that are 2 - to 4 - weeks in duration. Spaces are still available - don’t miss your chance to have a transformative summer experience. There are middle and high school competition math camps as well as Math Beasts camps that review key topics coupled with fun explorations covering areas such as graph theory (Math Beasts Camp 6), cryptography (Math Beasts Camp 7-8), and topology (Math Beasts Camp 8-9)!

Be sure to mark your calendars for the following upcoming events:

June 5th, Thursday, 7:30pm ET: Open Discussion with Ben Kornell and Andrew Sutherland, Art of Problem Solving's incoming CEO Ben Kornell and CPO Andrew Sutherland host an Ask Me Anything-style chat. Come ask your questions and get to know our incoming CEO & CPO!

June 9th, Monday, 7:30pm ET, Game Jam: Operation Shuffle!, Come join us to play our second round of Operation Shuffle! If you enjoy number sense, logic, and a healthy dose of luck, this is the game for you. No specific math background is required; all are welcome.
How can I check my old Mathcounts results
aqua2026   0
an hour ago
Hey!

Is there any way I can check the results of the mathcounts chapter competition I did online (COVID times) in like 2021-22 (idk remember the year exactly). I remember our scores popped up on some AoPS page, but I've lost touch with AoPs in the past few years and was wondering if I could go back somehow and see my previous results....

thanks

Problem with Alcumus problems*
alesan   4
N 3 hours ago by alesan
Problem:
Complex numbers are often used when dealing with alternating current (AC) circuits. In the equation $V = IZ$, $V$ is voltage, $I$ is current, and $Z$ is a value known as impedance. If $V = 1-i$ and $Z=1+3i$, find $I$. Express your answer as a complex number in the form $a+bi$, where $a$ and $b$ are real numbers.

Solution:
We have $$
I = \frac{V}{Z} = \frac{1-i}{1+3i}.
$$Multiplying the numerator and denominator by the conjugate of the denominator, we get \begin{align*}
I &= \frac{1-i}{1+3i} \cdot \frac{1-3i}{1-3i}\\
& = \frac{1(1) + 1(-3i) - i(1) - i(-3i)}{1(1) + 1(-3i) + 3i(1) + 3i(-3i)}\\
& = \frac{-2-4i}{10}\\
& = \boxed{ -\frac{1}{5} - \frac{2}{5}i }.
\end{align*}
Your Report:
Both answers should be correct, and accepted.

Response:
Your answer was not in the required form $a+bi$.
Both ways of it being written, still represent the same complex number. Writing the answer as a single fraction or as separate fractions for the real and imaginary parts is mathematically accepted

also sorry if this is the wrong place to put it. i tried PM'ing Bugmaster

Thanks again!

- also side note there are multiple problems like this.

k Answer isn’t displayed MATHCOUNTS
SandCanyon   2
N Yesterday at 2:35 AM by cz1917
The answer isn’t displayed when I type it in. I will type in the answer and the text cursor will move to the right clearly showing that I typed it in but no text will be shown. I can press submit and it will still register the answer properly how I entered it, but I can’t actually see what I entered in until it shows me the answer I put in on the solution screen.

I have a screen recording but I don’t know how to submit it

Asymptote caching problem
char0221   8
N Jun 23, 2025 by Ravensrule8
Summary of the problem: Asymptote caches the wrong diagram.
Page URL: Any community URL
Steps to reproduce:
1. Type the following inside asy tags:
draw(unitcircle);
2. Preview/post the result
3. Watch as your unit circle becomes a weird triangle diagram
Expected behavior: It should display a unit circle. This is caused by caching, because comments can revert the effects.
