im a TA
ive been pretty busy with like logistical work the past few days, but i have had some time to just hang out with the students!
i need to de-rust at geo (and other oly subjects) lmao cuz im teaching some classes in the next few days and havent rly done geo in the past few weeks so im gonna be grinding a bit
fortunately i basically get the mornings (and early afternoons) to myself since i dont have to attend other ppls' classes
so thats very convenient
overall a lot less work than math in the mountains, cuz kids are a lot older and more independent (and also quite good at following directions lol)
i also feel like im able to interact with and relate with the students a lot more since im not too much older than them and have gone through a lot of the things they did, which is really nice
all the kids are rly rly nice and studious (typical of g2)
we're staying in simmons which is honestly a great dorm. probably my favorite mit dorm. although it has rly weird/controversial architecture, i just happen to like a lot of random things about it, like the many windows that you can open and let in breeze, the plentiful singles
so anyway, hot take but simmons is a pretty cool dorm, architecture-wise
i dont know anything about the actual MIT culture here tho LMAO

i generally dont spend that much time in my room, and am the type of person to be decent friends with a lot of ppl rather than besties with like one or two ppl, so i find singles appealing, though i dont have a rly strong preference
, the metal sinks and shiny black floors because they just give off a certain vibe, the design that's a combination of geometric and cave-like, and especially the little lounges in the corners of floors with winding staircases between consecutive floors. even though there's no air conditioning, i don't feel like it's too hot because you can open the windows (there are sooo many windows). i guess im not that picky about heat though. the one possibly sub-optimal thing about simmons is that it's pretty hard to navigate because there are huge holes in the building (by design) so some floors dont go all the way across, but there are elevators and im sure one could travel from one place to another via stairs with enough time. the nontrivial-ness of it makes it more interesting.so anyway, hot take but simmons is a pretty cool dorm, architecture-wise
