Recent stuff

Scrolled through the AoPS blogroll for a couple of minutes. There seem to be 2 main topics for recent posts: AMC and Valentine's Day. So here's my experience with both of them.
I haven't done competition math in, like, a year? Maybe more? (I'll probably eventually make a post on why I kind of quit competitions.) Decided to take the AMC on a whim, though, as this will be my last year to take it, and I'm pretty sure I qualified for AIME! I'm actually motivated to spend the next month brushing up on my competition math skills to see if I can get a halfway decent AIME score. It'll be nice to have a little throwback to those halcyon days of tackling math problems just for the fun of it, and not worry too much about what scores other people are getting.
Next, Valentine's Day. I figured oh, what the heck, I'm gonna send a cute boy something. I texted him the equation for a 3D surface shaped like a heart. He responded with "...". Conclusion: Maybe I should stick to academics.
