Kathy joined AoPS in 2020 with 15 years in math education (MATHCOUNTS coaching, math circles, UT Dallas competitions). She co-authored 'Awesome Math' (2019) on problem-based learning. Both her sons are AoPS alumni. She has a BA in Communications, MBA (URI), and Instructional Design certification (UIUC).
Dr. Tam serves as Professor of Political Science, Computer Science, Law, and Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University. She is also an affiliate at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, Professor Emerita at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Professional Researcher in the School of Medicine at the University of California at San Francisco.
Jalaja brings electrical engineering expertise and a decade in tax consulting. She discovered AoPS seeking challenging education for her kids, and was so impressed by its distinctive problem-solving approach that she became both a parent and ambassador. She believes providing children strong foundations today prepares them for tomorrow.
Melissa joined AoPS in 2016 after a decade in language and teaching. She has a BA in Comparative Literature (UC Irvine, studying abroad in Sweden) and MA in English (UCSD). She has 10+ years teaching Language Arts from elementary to college. She enjoys books, landscaping, piano, and learning Spanish.
Longtime puzzlehunter and puzzle writer, former Googler (Search, Code Jam), lapsed chemist/biologist, combinatorics admirer. Besides computer science and math, Ian loves baseball, history, movies, tabletop RPGs, theater, trivia, weightlifting, and wildlife, among many other things!
