Source: Use your common sense! (enough is enough)
Some users don't want to learn, some other simply ignore advises.
But please follow the following guideline:

To make it short: ALWAYS USE YOUR COMMON SENSE IF POSTING!
If you don't have common sense, don't post.

More specifically:

For new threads:

a) Good, meaningful title:
The title has to say what the problem is about in best way possible.
If that title occured already, it's definitely bad. And contest names aren't good either.
That's in fact a requirement for being able to search old problems.

Examples:
Bad titles:
- "Hard"/"Medium"/"Easy" (if you find it so cool how hard/easy it is, tell it in the post and use a title that tells us the problem)
- "Number Theory" (hey guy, guess why this forum's named that way¿ and is it the only such problem on earth¿)
- "Fibonacci" (there are millions of Fibonacci problems out there, all posted and named the same...)
- "Chinese TST 2003" (does this say anything about the problem¿)
Good titles:
- "On divisors of a³+2b³+4c³-6abc"
- "Number of solutions to x²+y²=6z²"
- "Fibonacci numbers are never squares"

b) Use search function:
Before posting a "new" problem spend at least two, better five, minutes to look if this problem was posted before. If it was, don't repost it. If you have anything important to say on topic, post it in one of the older threads.
If the thread is locked cause of this, use search function.

Update (by Amir Hossein). The best way to search for two keywords in AoPS is to input
+"first keyword" +"second keyword"
so that any post containing both strings "first word" and "second form".

c) Good problem statement:
Some recent really bad post was:
$lim_{n\to 1}^{+\infty}\frac{1}{n}-lnn$
It contains no question and no answer.
If you do this, too, you are on the best way to get your thread deleted. Write everything clearly, define where your variables come from (and define the "natural" numbers if used). Additionally read your post at least twice before submitting. After you sent it, read it again and use the Edit-Button if necessary to correct errors.

For answers to already existing threads:

d) Of any interest and with content:
Don't post things that are more trivial than completely obvious. For example, if the question is to solve $x^{3}+y^{3}=z^{3}$, do not answer with "$x=y=z=0$ is a solution" only. Either you post any kind of proof or at least something unexpected (like "$x=1337, y=481, z=42$ is the smallest solution). Someone that does not see that $x=y=z=0$ is a solution of the above without your post is completely wrong here, this is an IMO-level forum.
Similar, posting "I have solved this problem" but not posting anything else is not welcome; it even looks that you just want to show off what a genius you are.

e) Well written and checked answers:
Like c) for new threads, check your solutions at least twice for mistakes. And after sending, read it again and use the Edit-Button if necessary to correct errors.

To repeat it: ALWAYS USE YOUR COMMON SENSE IF POSTING!

Everything definitely out of range of common sense will be locked or deleted (exept for new users having less than about 42 posts, they are newbies and need/get some time to learn).

The above rules will be applied from next monday (5. march of 2007).
Feel free to discuss on this here.

Let $ABC$ be a triangle with incenter $I$ and circumcircle $\Gamma$. Circles $\omega_{B}$ passing through $B$ and $\omega_{C}$ passing through $C$ are tangent at $I$. Let $\omega_{B}$ meet minor arc $AB$ of $\Gamma$ at $P$ and $AB$ at $M\neq B$, and let $\omega_{C}$ meet minor arc $AC$ of $\Gamma$ at $Q$ and $AC$ at $N\neq C$. Rays $PM$ and $QN$ meet at $X$. Let $Y$ be a point such that $YB$ is tangent to $\omega_{B}$ and $YC$ is tangent to $\omega_{C}$.

Show that $A,X,Y$ are collinear.

Straight-edge is a social construct

Source: INMO 2023 P6
Euclid has a tool called cyclos which allows him to do the following:

Given three non-collinear marked points, draw the circle passing through them.

Given two marked points, draw the circle with them as endpoints of a diameter.

Mark any intersection points of two drawn circles or mark a new point on a drawn circle.
Show that given two marked points, Euclid can draw a circle centered at one of them and passing through the other, using only the cyclos.

Azer and Babek have a $8 \times 8$ chessboard. Initially, Azer colors all cells of this chessboard with some colors. Then, Babek takes $2$ rows and $2$ columns and looks at the $4$ cells in the intersection. Babek wants to have all these $4$ cells in a same color, but Azer doesn't. With at least how many colors, Azer can reach his goal?

On my $100$th post and my birthday (which is this post and today, respectively) I'm gonna make a blog.

hi ppl! this is the first post of this blog and todays my birthday (and barrack obama's birthday as well but I'm not barrack obama)
so last night i was doing my music theory and i noticed something weird when i looked up at the clock to check the time.
there was a bug in the supposedly airtight clock
yes, I'm not kidding: a BUG
not the computer glitch, but the little thing that flies around
so, naturally, this peculiar event sparked a math problem.
the first one is easier, but the last two are harder

$1$. once upon a time, fly guy (he was the main character from my favorite book in grade $1$) ate some clock gears for lunch. After his delicious meal, he decided to do some gymnastics by balancing on the hour hand of a clock (and btw this is quite hard since the clock face is vertical) every $14$ hours, he walks to the tip of the hour hand, and the next $14$ hours, he walks back to the centre of the clock face) (I'm $14$ today btw) assuming he starts at 12:00 pm, when will be the first time he returns to the centre of the clock face when the hour hand is pointing to $4$?

$2$. the length of the hour hand is $14$ cm. with the same background info as above, what is the average speed of the gymnastics athlete, fly guy (fly guy is a fly btw) in light years/ millisecond? (trollolololol) answer in scientific notation
hint

$3$. after competing in the $2016i$ (yes thats an imaginary year) summer olympics in fly guy land and winning gold for his creative gymnastics routine, fly guy devised a better routine. he starts his old routine at 12:00, but this time, every time the clock hand that he is on touches another hand on the clock , he moves to the new hand. the other two hands, the minute hand and the second hand, have a length of $14$ cm as well. assuming that he does not change hands at 12:00:00 am or pm, what is his average speed in light years/microsecond? (even more trollolololol) answer in scientific notation

Speed is expressed in units of distance/time. A light year and a parsec are both units of distance. You need a unit of time

ye something like that, but the fact of the matter is that a parsec is distance not time, but i guess in star wars races are measured in terms of who took the shortest distance

I'm pretty sure this thing is gonna get locked soon for going off topic, but i might as well satisfy my curiosity:
what if u go to hyperspace and teleport during a race?

first off, hyperspace? i mo not sure what you mean. Teleportation is forbidden by the laws of physics everywhere, even in "hyperspace"

Actually teleportation might be possible with Quantum Entanglement.

Yeah, there's a Nova episode about Quantum Entanglement.

Even with Quantum entanglement it is not possible to transmit anything larger than a qubit, the smallest pieec of quantum data. It relies on classical comminication, so you cannot move faster thna the speed of light. Furthermore, it has not been achieved and will probably not be achieved for matter on the ssalce of large molecules or microscopic organisms, and most definetely not for humans

Yes, but scientists are working on it.

If you could post a link as to where current statues of research is , i would appreciate it. Personally, im a physics enthusiast and have much interest in quantum mechanics, so i would like to see where current technology/research stands

Lol this thread is incredibly off topic. Literally only 2 posts are about the actual problems and the rest are a hodpodge of trying to make fictional science real -_-

You bumped a 2 year post, but added nothing of significance (such as a new solution). This is against the Middle School Math forum rules.

You don’t need to be an adult to have a nephew.

Okay now we aren’t doing anything much here I think we should stop

actually anyone can have a nephew regardless of their age
literally
and a rly weird example is my dad who has an uncle younger than him, mean my dad is a nephew to this uncle, and the uncle is younger
i said this cuz when this uncle was young, he already had an older nephew
