[Posted January 31st, 2014.]

Take a look at the threads of this forum from January 20th to January 31st, 2014. You will notice that about half of the threads have been moved. Specifically, they have been moved to one of Middle School Contests, High School Basics, High School Intermediate, and High School Pre-Olympiad. They have been moved because they are not middle school classroom math.

Middle school classroom math is not necessarily math you did in the classroom in middle school (considering that many AoPSers take advanced classes). Middle school classroom math is stuff you learn before algebra 1! Please make sure that you post things of an appropriate difficulty/content level. See this post for examples of things of the appropriate difficulty level.

From now on, I intend to move threads from this forum to more advanced forums without leaving the links to the threads behind in this forum. I will only leave links to threads that I move to other forums (such as probability). If you are looking for something you posted here, it is probably in one of the more advanced mathematics forums.

However, please try to post in the correct forum to begin with. Thanks. Ask me or another moderator if you have any questions.

We can post problems slightly harder than those mentioned in here, correct? Or is it pretty much limited to that level of difficulty...if so, we've gone way over the top.

If the difficulty is above that of the problems in that post, I suggest that you post in a higher-level forum. However, if it's close, I will let it stay in this forum.

I think most people here learn algebra 1 in middle school. Thus, maybe algebra 2 and easier is a better standard,

At least in my county, algebra 1 is part of the high school curriculum and algebra 2 is 11th grade math (pretty much no one does algebra 2 until high school). Since this is AoPS, I suppose basic things from algebra 1 and geometry would be allowed. But this boundary has been pretty much ignored and I want to establish some sort of reasonable boundary.

I don't understand what you mean in that paragraph...so you're saying that you won't leave links to threads moved to MS Contests, HS Basics, HS Intermediate, and HS Pre-Olympiad, but you will leave links to threads moved to forums other than those listed above?

Yeah, that's what I mean. Because it is reasonable for you to look in 4 other forums if you can't find your topic here (that will be the standard move and it will include 95% of moves) but it is not reasonable for you to look in 400 other forums, so I will leave a shadow topic in those cases.
