I'm probably done with college competitions? sad

Geo practice

by MP8148, Jul 24, 2024, 9:03 PM

I tried some ISL geometry problems:

Let $ABCDE$ be a convex pentagon such that $\angle ABC = \angle AED = 90^\circ$. Suppose that the midpoint of $CD$ is the circumcenter of triangle $ABE$. Let $O$ be the circumcenter of triangle $ACD$.

Prove that line $AO$ passes through the midpoint of segment $BE$.

Point $P$ is chosen on $\overline{AC}$ such taht $BC=CP,$ and point $S$ is the foot of the perpendicular from $P$ to $\overline{AB}$. Ray $BP$ mets $\omega$ again at $D$. Point $Q$ is chosen on line $SP$ such that $PQ = r$ and $S,P,Q$ lie on a line in that order. Finally, let $E$ be a point satisfying $\overline{AE} \perp \overline{CQ}$ and $\overline{BE} \perp \overline{DQ}$. Prove that $E$ lies on $\omega$.

Prove that lines $AD, PM$, and $BC$ are concurrent.

The perpendicular from $A$ to $BC$ meets $BS$ at $D$ and meets $\Omega$ again at $E \neq A$. The line through $D$ parallel to $BC$ meets line $BE$ at $L$. Denote the circumcircle of triangle $BDL$ by $\omega$. Let $\omega$ meet $\Omega$ again at $P \neq B$. Prove that the line tangent to $\omega$ at $P$ meets line $BS$ on the internal angle bisector of $\angle BAC$.

I tried G5 for a while but it looked kinda hard so I gave up. I didn't look at the rest of the problems.

Also, I passed the driver's test somehow, even though I'm horrible driver and I drive into a wall recently while parking :wallbash:

Traveling

by MP8148, Jun 30, 2024, 6:43 AM

I went to Vancouver and Richmond last week. Why is there so many Asians (I assume majority of them are Chinese) here :juggle: basically feels like I went to China except streets still look American
(Asian food is pretty good there, unsurprisingly)

MBTI believer

by MP8148, May 7, 2024, 10:28 AM

Do you guys believe it? I think there is definitely some truth to it, and its interesting regardless.

I retook the MBTI personality test a couple days ago and got ISFP. I used to get ISTP, but this time I think I changed my thoughts on some of the questions from leaning toward T to leaning toward F, so not surprised that the result changed (it was previously close to 50-50).

I looked at the descriptions for ISFP, and I think it describes me pretty well:
Quote:
Sensitive to Others
A bit oversensitive
Quote:
Kind and Encouraging
my irl friends gonna disagree with this
Quote:
Imaginative
I day dream too much
Quote:
Passionate – Beneath their quiet shyness beats an intensely feeling heart. When these personalities are caught up in something exciting and interesting, they can leave everything else in the dust.
does addicted to games count
Quote:
dislike long-term commitments and plans
I have 0 planning skill, very very bad
Quote:
Easily Stressed – People with the ISFP personality type live in the present, full of emotion. When situations get out of control, they can shut down, losing their characteristic charm and creativity in favor of gnashing teeth.
I don't have characteristic charm, but yeah, easily stressed
Quote:
Difficulty with Technical Problem-Solving
:stretcher:

Ok I was joking a little above, but I really do think the descriptions are somewhat accurate. I also accidentally saw some videos which say ISFP tend to be lazy, and I'm definitely the most lazy person I know.

I saw this problem on wechat so i thought about it for a little (before impatiently looking at the answer):
rephrased wrote:
In triangle $ABC$ with orthocenter $H$, let the circle with center $A$ and radius $AH$ intersect $(BHC)$ again at $T_1$, and similarly define $T_2, T_3$. Then $HT_1T_2T_3$ is cyclic.

Driving is hard

by MP8148, May 6, 2024, 10:21 AM

I still haven't got driver's license :stretcher: . I got the permit earlier in the winter semester, but then I procrastinate on doing the road test, so now I have to retake the test again (i'm back home now).

When I practice driving, sometimes I think it's so much to think about during driving. Obviously I should focus on the road, but I also need to look at the mirrors at least somewhat often, and I need to look at google maps. Idk, it just feels really hard for me to coordinate so many things at once. There is at least several times in which I almost bump into something, like when I look at google maps for 1 second and the car in front suddenly stop and we become really close. If everyone is as bad as me then there will be 10x more traffic accidents probably.

Dead blog

by MP8148, May 5, 2024, 11:53 AM

I got reminded to read my old blogposts, and I think they are kind of cringe sometimes :wallbash:

But at least i was posting consistently. Now I just dont know what to post anymore. There isn't really much i want to talk about in life, and I'm not doing cool(?) geo any more.

Also, I'm done with 3rd year in college, and next sem will be the time to apply to grad school and/or job. Based on what happened in senior year of high school (me procrastinating on everything and not doing well in life) and how i'm kind of failing college already, I don't look forward to it :noo: help

Flight anxiety

by MP8148, Jan 22, 2024, 5:49 PM

I don't know why, but I have lots of dreams about trying to catch flights at the airport and being anxious. Sometimes I get lost in the airport, sometimes the elevator is not working, and sometimes I realize I forget to bring something. It also feels so real that when I wake up I try to check if I have any flights. I don't think I have actually missed a flight though. Does anyone ever feel the same?

Goal: survive :)

Ok I don't really know what that means lol; my grades (and sleep schedule) are already on fire :maybe:

  • The question is, how will it end?
and the smart answer is "I won't be alive to see it end so I won't care and I will just get this midterm done"

  • well the universe will end anyways

    by MP8148, Oct 29, 2021, 12:18 PM

  • woops i should have mentioned, it was the problem with which the bary cs pdf was attached (linked in the recent geo marathon) and also thanks for the asy guide link :D

    by MrOreoJuice, Sep 27, 2021, 8:03 AM

  • idk which diagram you're referring to, but thx. it takes practice to get better at asy (like everything else lol), but i think this is pretty good

    by MP8148, Sep 26, 2021, 10:11 PM

  • omgg that diagram is so hawt
you should make an asy tutorial lol
