Here's some things to keep in mind while using this forum:

Hide your solutions! If someone wants to read the problem and then work it out on their own, it's not going to be very much fun if they can already see the answer.
How do I hide a solution?
Use hide tags! Here's two examples:
- [hide]solution[/hide] creates Click to reveal hidden text
  solution
- [hide=Solution]solution[/hide] creates Solution
  solution
You can also use the crossed-out h button when writing a new post to add the tags.
Do I have to post a full solution? Nope! Full solutions are great (and you should if you can), but helpful hints contribute to the discussion as well.
Okay, but can I just post the answer? That's not very useful, especially if someone's already given that information in a previous post in the discussion. "The answer is 3!" isn't a helpful response, and doesn't add to the discussion. Please avoid doing this.
What if I find a solution that's not hidden? Unfortunately, there's a lot of these, and at the moment it's not really worth our time to go back and fix them all. There's thousands of discussions! If you do find an older post with a not-hidden solution, be smart. Don't do something silly like telling the user to hide their solution when the post is 3 years old -- they're not going to see it.
Avoid posting problems on your own. Use GameBot. Please use GameBot to discuss the question. This helps keep discussions for a problem consolidated into a single thread. You can access this by clicking the Discuss button

that appears after reaching the solution page for a problem.

It's important to keep in mind that Alcumus is a personalized training tool centered around your unique abilities. If you get a problem wrong, it will adapt and focus on improving your skills in that topic. Just keep practicing and you'll improve more and more each day.

If someone does end up posting themselves, without GameBot, don't just give away the answer -- there's not much learning that can be done if someone just enters a number in without doing any work. Give them a helpful hint on how to get started, or a nudge towards the next step in their work.
Don't post the official Alcumus solution. If someone's viewing the GameBot discussion thread, that means they've already reached the solutions page for that problem! Posting it again doesn't add anything to the discussion. It's also not very nice if you do this and make it sound like you were the one that wrote it, since it's someone else's work. As with hidden solutions, it's probably not feasible to fix all of these, but I think we can all do a better job going forward.

If you do have a specific question about the solution, though, then that discussion is fine. You can include it for reference in that case.
Can I ask questions about the problem/solution? Of course! That's exactly what the discussions are for -- anything that helps someone better understand how things work. Just remember to use the official GameBot thread.
What do I do if I think one of the problems/solutions has an error? You can report this by clicking the Report Error
link that appears after reaching the solution page for a problem. If you post it here, though, we probably won't see it.
Be nice. Even if the problem seems simple or obvious to you, don't be condescending towards someone looking for help. Just as there's a wide range of problems in Alcumus, there's a wide variety of people solving them. Some students are just starting out on their mathematical journey, so keep that in mind when you're discussing a problem.
