The United States of America mathematics Talent Search (USAMTS) is a mathematics competition in which students are challenged to write full solutions and mathematical proofs to exploratory math problems.

The USAMTS is administered by the Art of Problem Solving Foundation with support and sponsorship by the National Security Agency (NSA).

Format

The USAMTS is portioned into 4 rounds. Each round consists of 5 problems that are very challenging. Students are given one month to write up professional solutions. All calculators and computer programs are allowed; however, explanations must be given. The problems are graded from 0-5. Hence, a perfect score is 100 points. Prizes are awarded to high scorers.
