Qualification for the Connecticut ARML Team is via a test known as the ARML Runoff. The test is given at various locations in the state in early March and consists of 24 questions given in two one-hour sections. Student selection for the team is usually announced during the state meet (CSAML).

The students selected for the team then participate in two practices held on Saturday mornings in mid-May. Three teams of 15 students each go to the ARML contest at Penn State.
