Regional Competition

Oklahoma calls chapter competition as regionals. There are five distinct regions. Each region competes on a certain date.

  • East central: first weekend of February or last weekend of January
  • Central: one week after central
  • Eastern: two weeks after central
  • Northwestern: three weeks after central
  • Southwestern: four weeks after central

Eastern region has been eliminated in 2015. It is uncertain about their existence in the future.

The most competitive of these five regions are the ones with Oklahoma's two major metropolis: east central (Tulsa) and central (Oklahoma City/Norman).

The selection process for advancing towards state competition is the same as all states. Countdown round is not used to determine state qualification.

State Competition

State competition is usually held on the first weekend of March. Approximately $80-88$ students compete each year. Countdown round is official.

National Competition

In the national competition, Oklahoma is usually ranked in the middle, often scoring in the high 20s to high 30s. The best Oklahoma has ever done was in the second MathCounts year, with a student making first place individual and the team as 3rd.

AoPSers from Oklahoma who Made Nationals

Note: a strikethrough through the year represents that person made nationals because of countdown (i.e. ranked 5th or lower on written), and grayed out years means that person was ranked 4th written but lost countdown.
