Math Crazy Kids Need Some Summer Fun?
“Camp was amazing!”
“I really enjoyed all the activities and the guest speakers. I didn’t realize how many jobs I could actually use math in.”
Those are comments from students have attended Math Contest Camp in the past. Over the course of five years, 175 campers in 5th-12th grade have attended for one week of fun with math and other math-loving kids and counselors.
If you have students who love math and challenges, pass this information on to them and their parents. This summer (2011), there will be two separate one week camps: July 10-15 for students entering 5th-8th grades and July 17-22 for students entering 7th-12th grade. Both weeks of camp are held on the campus of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO.
Along with various math activities, the campers can participate in other activities. Such activities as rock climbing, pool time, and indoor and outdoor games.
The camp is directed by Dr. Kevin Hopkins, the chairman of the math department at SBU, but SBU is not a sponsor of the camp.
Math Contest Camp costs $375 a week. That covers room and board(with 2-3 students per room), a t-shirt and bag, group photo, and activities at the Wellness Center on campus.
