Trapezoid $ABCD$ has bases $\overline{AB}$ and $\overline{CD}$ and diagonals intersecting at $K$. Suppose that $AB = 9$, $DC = 12$, and the area of $\triangle AKD$ is $24$. What is the area of trapezoid $ABCD$?
