Kirchhoff's rules

1) Junction rule.

The net current flowing into a junction is equal to zero.

This can be represented as

$\sum I_{in} - \sum I_{out} = 0$

or

$\sum I_{in} = \sum I_{out}$

2) Loop rule. The sum of the potential differences across all elements in a closed circuit loop is equal to 0.

$\sum_{closed loop} \Delta V = 0$ This article is a stub. Help us out by expanding it.
