You should also check what special needs your parents may have as it will make a huge difference in which facility would be suitable for them. Some facilities will offer assisted and independent living, for instance, but will not have a memory care unit. These should be scratched off your list if you have a parent suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s. And, if they have a debilitating disease that they need assistance with most of the time, you may want to look at nursing facilities instead of regular senior homes.
