If an even number of muffins were bought, then the number of bagels bought would have to be at least 4 in order to maintain a whole number of dollars. Since that is not possible the number of muffins must be either 1 or 2. The answer is 2. 2*.75= 1.5. 3*.5=1.5. 1.5+1.5=3 whole dollars
