Benoit Mandelbrot is a mathematician known for his work in fractals, which are highly self-similar and look the same globally or locally (on the fractal). Fractals resemble patterns in nature. Famous fractal curves include the Koch curve (or snowflake), the Mandelbrot set, and the Julia set.
