Cell theory usually consists of three statements:

1) Cells are the basic unit of structure and function in organisms

2) Cells make up all organisms

3) All cells are created from previous cells

Scientists Theodor Schwann, Matthias Jakob Schleiden, and Rudolph Virchow were the main contributors to cell theory.
