Math Contest Camp Math Crazy Kids Need Some Summer Fun?

“Camp was amazing!”

“I really enjoyed all the activities and the guest speakers. I didn’t realize how many jobs I could actually use math in.”

Those are comments from students have attended Math Contest Camp in the past. Over the course of fourteen years, 880 campers in 5th-12th grade have attended for one week of fun with math and other math-loving kids and counselors.

If you have students who love math and challenges, pass this information on to them and their parents. This summer (2022), there will be two separate one week camps: June 26-July 1 for students entering 5th-9th grades and July 10-15 for students entering 8th-12th grade. The July 10-15 week will also include a Computer Science Camp Track. Both weeks of camp are held on the campus of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO.

Along with various math activities, the campers can participate in other activities, such as pool time, and indoor and outdoor games.

The camp is directed by Dr. Kevin Hopkins, retired head of the division of computing and mathematics at SBU, but SBU is not a sponsor of the camp.

Math Contest Camp costs $450 a week. That covers room (with 2-3 students per room) and board, a t-shirt and bag, group photo, and activities at the Wellness Center on campus.
