What is Project Math Minds? Project Math Minds is a scholarship competition aimed at introducing the highly rated actuarial profession to high school students. Project Math Minds challenges junior and senior high school students' ability to conduct sophisticated mathematical analyses and make decisions based on the results - the types of analytical skills that are critical for success in today's ever-changing economic climate. These are the skills that make actuaries experts in managing risk and planning for the future.

The Actuarial Foundation’s 2016 Project Math Minds competition is being hosted by Liberty Mutual Insurance in Seattle, WA. The project focuses on insuring earthquake losses estimating the amount of money to collect from policyholders in order to pay for the losses expected to occur in the next calendar year. Student finalists will present their project to a group of actuary judges at Liberty Mutual in Seattle on April 20, 2016.
