Let $A$ and $B$ be any sets, and let $f:A\to B$ be any function. Then $\{b\in B\mid \mathrm{there\ is\ some\ } a\in A\mathrm{\ such\ that\ } f(a)=b\}$ is called the range or image of $f$.
