The solution to this problem is wrong. The height of parallelogram can not be just equal to the height of cylinder, as in that scenario it cannot circle around the cylinder.

Not sure what you mean, but the solution seems correct. You might be confusing the length of the strip (and the side length of the parallelogram) with the height of the parallelogram.
