trick for solving polynomials
by Helena_Liang, Nov 26, 2023, 4:17 AM
passed down from my dad, who obtained the knowledge from online math forums
it's basically substitution but not really (?)
example one:
x^3-x-1=0; solve for x
solution
example two (from my precalc textbook):
prove tan(x-y)+tan(y-z)+tan(z-x)=tan(x-y)tan(y-z)tan(z-x)
solution
hmmm yes substitution but not really
the substitution for problem 1 should be useful in contests tho (maybe?)
but yeah I hope whoever reads this thing through grows a braincell afterwards

the answer is really quirky but yeah something like what I got (not completely simplified bc I do not want to simplify that pile of numbers)
