Distance

Distance indicates how far apart two objects are. In coordinate geometry, the distance between two points can be determined by the distance formula.

IMPORTANT: Do not confuse distance, a scalar value, with displacement. Distance, being a scalar, has no direction attributed to it. On the other hand, displacement does. Displacement is a vector.

The change of distance over time is said to be its speed (or rate). That is, d/t=r or d=rt.
