Yarn is a continuous linier object which is interlocked fibers. It is a variety as a row material of textile fibers and is a soft and thin. Yarns are used to make textile products by different process such as knitting, weaving, crocheting, sewing, rope making and embroidering. Yarns are made of different type fibres (such as polyester, cotton) which are natural or manmade. Yarns from fibers are made by different processes such as:

1. Carding – It is a process that comes very first for cleaning the fiber, preparing it, opening and straitening

2. Combing - In it there will lay the fibre next to each other and straight parallel to each other. In it, it will keep the fibres of same length and remove the fibres with short length.

Some time the process of combing been skipped to save money. There is an option of semi combing process for combing to save fibre wastage.

3. Spinning – The drawing out, winding and twisting of fibers convert into a long continuous thread which is called yarn. Spinning is the process that makes yarn from a fiber. There are many different types of spinning methods to make a various types of yarns.

Continuous filament like nylon, rayon, or silk may be formed into yarns; or may be cut into lengths, and can be prepared such as staple fiber.

4. Twisting – This process binds the yarns or fibers into continuous strength after spinning process. This process will make yarn a smooth and strengthen it. There are two types of twisting process. One is called Z in which the direction of twist may be to the right. Another called as S in which the direction may be the left. Single yarn can be formed by twisting a filaments or fibers in one direction. Ply yarn can be made by twisting two or more than two single yarns. Code, rope or twine can be made from a cable twist.

The yarns are mainly use for knitted fabrics, weaving woven fabrics, knitting fabrics, for the part of the non woven fabric, also can be used in fields other than textile etc. There are a number of yarn manufacturers that are providing a various types of yarns to the different industry.

There are many different types of yarns such as polyester yarn, viscose yarn, nylon yarns and many more. You can get detailed information by searching online.
