I teach math and computer science at Bethpage High School in Nassau County, Long Island, NY. I've been coaching the math team on and off for the last ten years and this school year should be our best season ever (go Eagles!).

I earned my BA and MA from SUNY Stony Brook, but I learned most of what I know from attending the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics, browsing through books and magazines, and most recently, from my students. LaSpina home page

Spina is Italian for "Thorn." It's a name a friend gave me in high school, but unlike Gordon Matthew Sumner's nickname, it didn't stick.
