MIST Academy is a school for motivated math and science students in the Birmingham, Alabama area founded and run by former AoPS teacher, and class and textbook author Mathew Crawford. MIST stands for Mathematics, Informatics, Science, and Technology. MIST Academy classes are also held in Huntsville, Alabama.
Founded in 2007, MIST Academy is currently focused on developing its math and problem solving programs, and developing programs for speech and debate, robotics, and the sciences.
Competition Mathematics
MIST Academy students compete in many local and national math competitions. MIST Academy also works on and sponsors numerous math events including
- The iTest
- MATHCOUNTS
- Alabama ARML (the Alabama state math team for high school students)
- The Auburn University Math-a-thon
