Good suggestion, and one I'd definitely do if I didn't live in the foothills where, unless you are ultra fit and training for bike races, you aren't gonna get very far.

Alternative: Keep looping around your house on a bike until you're pretty sure that you've covered 5 miles.

kayaking! you get to see such pretty places without a tremendous amount of physical exertion. are there any lakes nearby? or if you're feeling extra adventurous you could try sea kayaking
