Scores on Contests for Ya'll to submit! (everyone be as honest as possible)
NEILDASEAL_12345 66
What are yall's most recent scores on mathCON, AMC 8 and other things? I just wanna know how I'm holding up and if my scores are good! This is the end of my first year in contest math, and I've always been gifted, but can someone tell me if these scores are good? MATHCON: 240
AMC 8: 19 QUESTIONS
AMC 10: 16 QUESTIONS
btw I'm going to 7th grade
EDIT: Y'all I mean 16 questions right on the AMC 10, I'm way too lazy to scroll and find the number of points lol
EDIT: Math Kangaroo: I forgot the score, but I got like 30th National

The 24 Game, but with a twist!
PikaPika999 282
So many people know the 24 game, where you try to create the number 24 from using other numbers, but here's a twist:
You can only use the number 24 (up to 5 times) to try to make other numbers :)
the limit is 5 times because then people could just do
and so on to create any number!
honestly, I feel like with only addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, you can't get pretty far with this, so you can use any mathematical operations!

Grandi Series is weird??
sadas123 12
I was just watching this video and I kinda understood what they were saying they said:

so at first I thought that = 0
but then I realized that if you give an variable such that:

then you get

isolating x you get that

so

is there a way to get the definite answer because I am still confused.

Trigonometry equation practice
ehz2701 6
There is a lack of trigonometric bash practice, and I want to see techniques to do these problems. So here are 10 kinds of problems that are usually out in the wild. How do you tackle these problems? (I had ChatGPT write a code for this.). Please give me some general techniques to solve these kinds of problems, especially set 2b. I’ll add more later.

I admit 1a-6 and 1a-10 is a bit easy analytically. However, the point of the exercise is improving the ability of trigonometric identities.

a cute combinatorics (?) problem

here’s a cute little problem that can be solved with combinatorics, but is also related to some very common sequences in mathematics :3
say you have a
-inch-wide rectangle of some length
, and a bunch of
x
dominos. how many different ways can you completely cover the rectangle with dominos? you can place the dominos horizontally or vertically - for example, for a
-by-
rectangle, a valid arrangement of dominos is
vertical domino on the left and
horizontal dominos on the right.
hope you find this interesting!

Introducing Mathema
MathandPhysics-Life 0
Hey everyone! I'm excited to share some big news for anyone preparing for math contests like the AMC, AIME, or USAMO/USAJMO.
I've launched Mathema, a completely FREE online platform designed to help you tackle challenging problems. Mathema offers intelligent hints to guide you without giving away the answer, fostering true understanding. Plus, it can grade your proofs on a scale of 0-7, providing instant feedback to refine your argumentation skills.
You can learn more and get started right away at: Mathema
I've also made a more detailed announcement in the Peer to Peer Programs Forum here: https://artofproblemsolving.com/community/c1967976h3608853_big_news_for_aspiring_math_olympians_introducing_mathema

Qualifying for USAJMO

So basically I'm going to be in 9th grade in the fall, I'm averaging 102-108 on practice AMC 10s and averaging 7-8 on AIMEs so I'm wondering what I still need to do to bump AMC 10 like 25 points and AIME like 2 points. I've done all the intros, about to start intermediates, and also going to do some Awesome math books. I'm trying to find some good books for geometry(my weakest subject) as well as other books that are in between AoPS Intros and Intermediates as well as some that are more advanced than the intermediates. Specifically, I'd like an advanced NT book(my strongest subject), a C&P/Combinatorics book that's between Intro and intermediate. Also generally AIME books as well.

how long to study for AMC
AdrienMarieLegendre 10
This might not be the right question to ask, but I want to know for reference. I will be taking the AMC 10 in november, and my current score on practice tests is 50. Around how long do you think I should study per day, and how much time did you put into studying daily to make AIME?

[*]Plus, AoPS Online has a special seminar July 14 - 17 that is outside the standard fare: Paradoxes and Infinity
[*]We are expanding our in-person AoPS Academy locations - are you looking for a strong community of problem solvers, exemplary instruction, and math and language arts options? Look to see if we have a location near you and enroll in summer camps or academic year classes today! New locations include campuses in California, Georgia, New York, Illinois, and Oregon and more coming soon![/list]
MOP (Math Olympiad Summer Program) just ended and the IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) is right around the corner! This year’s IMO will be held in Australia, July 10th - 20th. Congratulations to all the MOP students for reaching this incredible level and best of luck to all selected to represent their countries at this year’s IMO! Did you know that, in the last 10 years, 59 USA International Math Olympiad team members have medaled and have taken over 360 AoPS Online courses. Take advantage of our Worldwide Online Olympiad Training (WOOT) courses
and train with the best! Please note that early bird pricing ends August 19th!
