Books for AMC 10
GallopingUnicorn45   4
N 7 minutes ago by GallopingUnicorn45
Hi all,

So I'm in 4th grade, and I'm having a go at AMC 10 and I've got some questions.
First, how many questions are needed to get Achievement Roll and AIME?
Second, what should I grind to prepare? I took the Intro to Algebra, Counting & Probability, and Number Theory courses already, completed those three books and will be starting the Intro to Geometry book soon. I'm planning to grind the Competition Math for Middle School and try to add in Volume 1: The Basics along with the three books that I already finished, plus geometry. Is there anything else to prepare with besides Alcumus and past papers and those books?

Thanks!

random problem i just thought about one day

i don't even know if this is solvable
Prove that there are finite/infinite powers of 2 where all the digits are also powers of 2. (For example, $4$ and $128$ are numbers that work, but $64$ and $1024$ don't work.)

Two similar geometry question

I have two questions for you to solve.
However, the particular question I am asking here is
Given the 1st question has answer x, find an easy solution to 2nd question in terms of x.
Essentially are these the same question, or is it a coincidence that the answers are similar?

First question, Equilateral triangle ABC has circle O tangent to BC and passing through A. Circle O intersects AB and AC at D and E, with AD=10 and AE=11. What is the length of BC?

Second question, Quadrilateral ABCD has AB=3, AD=4, B and D are right angles, C is 60 degrees.
What is the length of AC?

k I cannot into nationals, what should I do?

I am an eighth grader in North Carolina and I am sort of pressured to make nats this year, I only got 26 on last year's state test (orz to @mathprodigy2011) and I have mocked 39, 40, and 37 on the 2014, 2015, and 2022 tests respectively. I am aiming for a 40 this year because that seems to be the cutoff. How should I sufficiently improve? My test is on March 14th, 2025.

To be more clear, last year I got 16/10 and on the tests I have mocked, I got 27/12, 26/14, and 25/12.

one very specific bit of advice i have is to make sure you know how your calculator works

i had practiced with a diff calculator for all my practice/mock tests, so when i walked into target round with my brand new fancy calculator, i sillied 2 problems while having correct expressions that i just had to plug into my calculator, and missed nats by 3 pts

I am in NC, and from Carnage. TMSA Cary is better though. I would have made it to chapter and state, but kind of blundered on very easy questions.
