Mathcounts state iowa
iwillregretthisnamelater   9
N 14 minutes ago by ericwengcn
Ok I’m a 6th grader in Iowa who got 38 in chapter which was first, so what are the chances of me getting in nats? I should feel confident but I don’t. I have a week until states and I’m getting really anxious. What should I do? And also does the cdr count in Iowa? Because I heard that some states do cdr for fun or something and that it doesn’t count to final standings.

Back in 2023 when I took states the CDR cutoff was 28 (with tiebreaks) and the nats cutoff was 33. Ohio is mid rn. There is like one or two people in middle school who are near jmo level, but competition isn't super intense. ( I made nats in 2023 )

I live in Ohio and I predict NATS cutoff to be 35. My chapter has a two time nats qual and he might get ~38.

https://artofproblemsolving.com/community/c3h3290062 they have cutoffs for different states here, some bigger states are more competitive than others. ohio is usually somewhat easy but sometimes really good students will appear and it will be hard to qualify.

selection bias, the worst states won't be put on there in fear of shame. I'd say Ohio is probably a t15 state, this team is about the same as last year, and ohio got 14th last year.
