What is WOOT? WOOT stands for Worldwide Online Olympiad Training and is a 7-month high school math Olympiad preparation and testing program that brings together many of the best students from around the world to learn Olympiad problem solving skills. Classes begin in September!

Do you have plans this summer? There are so many options to fit your schedule and goals whether attending a summer camp or taking online classes, it can be a great break from the routine of the school year. Check out our summer courses at AoPS Online, or if you want a math or language arts class that doesn’t have homework, but is an enriching summer experience, our AoPS Virtual Campus summer camps may be just the ticket! 6th grade: AIME : 5

Power of 4: 2011 USAMO #4, 2011 USAJMO #6

Consider the assertion that for each positive integer $n\geq2$, the remainder upon dividing $2^{2^n}$ by $2^n-1$ is a power of $4$. Either prove the assertion or find (with proof) a counterexample.

No bro i got 11 on aime in 6th grade, also princeton doesnt like people who do math comps who are tryna go to mit

also u seem like ur essays would suck

^ Rude

@op I think 11 on the aime is a really prestigious achievement so congrats! :) but it's more valuable to focus on other ecs and essays outside of competitions as aos sees those as important aswell

No offense meant from this, but after getting 11 on the AIME I haven't seen OP make a single post without mentioning the fact that they got an 11 on the aime.

A good achievement, but I think top colleges only care mostly about AMO/JMO (best might not bother to look at JMO).

aint no way this guy went from telling everyone the jmo cutoffs were gonna be 230 +- 1, making a bajillion polls and posts on aops forums, and then telling other people they will/will not make jmo to this.

after cutoffs come out he was (probably) upset and now magically is the happiest person alive (along with a magically bigger ego) and now says "as a top 5% scorer on the aime please ask me how i got so good" and now has the audacity to think an 11 on the aime by itself without any other information about his profile will gauge his chances at getting into Princeton.

for ppl who think im just throwing shade at a random dude who is happy about his achievements, im not.

Bro nobody cares about that and nobody should care about that. Stop posting things completely irrelevant to the topic at hand because you want to fit in
But anyways i do agree with the part where 11 on aime says basically nothing alone

OP's tone may imply arrogancy, even if they didn't mean to word it that way. For someone who didn't do as well on the AIME, this can be interpreted as demoralizing.

(Like seriously tho, it’s 2025. Literally EVERYTHING is hyper-competitive. Like, if I failed the AMC then my gyatt doesn’t even stand a chance to get into a good college. Unfortunately, nowadays there are just too many smart people out there, which means more opps to battle tryna get into college.)

You can't tell me OP isn't hyperfocused/hyperfixated on college. Rather than seeing everyone as competition, perhaps try making some friends.

Anyone who is telling you your chances of getting into X college without intimately knowing you or the school's admissions (read: nobody here) is either lying to you or selling something.

No doubt it's a plus (yes, it's a plus; and yes, Princeton knows the "prestige", whatever that means, of your score; and yes, you should probably write it somewhere when you apply), and I would be proud of the score you got. But keep in mind: schools like Princeton follow a liberal arts education model, and it's incredibly misleading to generalize their admissions process to "I got a X on Y test so I'm gonna get in!"

Keep working on math and get better at it. Or explore social issues in your community, become involved, and fix them. Or volunteer at your local soup kitchen. You're doing well, but there's so much you can do! :)
