Based on everything I see from high school students and new Gen Z math fanatics, it seems that what was once considered necessary to succeed, in other terms to gain admission into a great university, is different. Math is the pinnacle of education and a very accurate measurement of one’s capacity to be intelligent and also consistency, that may never change, but with populations increasing and these colleges not, there are new factors that must be considered. Playing an instrument, playing lots of varsity sports, volunteering, and doing leadership activities are all now on the rise, more than it was 20 or so years ago. So, what is the point of all this? The point is that the 4-5 hour regime that parents or students thought or still think is necessary to become the top 1% of mathletes is now inefficient. In a natural 16-hour day, people may allocate more time to more productive activities that will help them succeed. This is why I state my opinion that students should study for 2-3 hours a day, but still stay laser-focused on solving math problems. That way, they could compete with these new kids of different ethnicities who all, because they’re not as smart, are doing other activities to try to look special to universities.

Hey Everyone, I'm pleased to announce the dates for the 2025 MA4G Competition are set!
Applications will open on March 22nd, 2025, and they will close on April 26th, 2025 (@ 11:59pm PST).

Applicants will have one month to fill out an application with prizes for the top 50 contestants & cash prizes for the top 20 contestants (including $1,000 for the winner!). More details below!

Eligibility:
The competition is free to enter, and open to middle school female students living in the US (5th-8th grade).
Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude, activities and aspirations in STEM.

Event dates:
Applications will open on March 22nd, 2025, and they will close on April 26th, 2025 (by 11:59pm PST)
Winners will be announced on June 28, 2025 during an online award ceremony.

Application requirements:
Complete a 12 question problem set on math and computer science/AI related topics
Write 2 short essays

Prizes:
1st place: $1,000 Cash prize
2nd place: $500 Cash prize
3rd place: $300 Cash prize
4th-10th: $100 Cash prize each
11th-20th: $50 Cash prize each
Top 50 contestants: Over $50 worth of gadgets and stationary

If $2$ was one of the primes, then the sum would be even, impossible. Otherwise, $3+5+7+11+13=39,$ which isn't prime, but $3+5+7+11+17=43\implies{7}$ is, yielding $\boxed{\textbf{(B)}}.$

The minimum possible sum of 5 distinct primes that are odd (since the number is prime) is
3+5+7+11+13 = 39
41 is impossible since 15 isn't prime, so the number is 43 (3+5+7+11+17).
Therefore, the answer is 4+3 = 7 (B)

All the primes have to be odd for the sum to be odd. We may then just bash out the possibilities to notice that the first prime that works is $43$, so the answer is $\boxed{7}$.
