URGENT JMO problem 1 Misgrade protest (Cost MOP)
bjump   73
N an hour ago by NoSignOfTheta
I was docked 4 points on jmo 1 and it cost me mop. I got 370 777 and 770 777 got into mop.
This google drive link contains my submission to USAJMO day 1
Day 1 Scans
My solution works except for 2 typos. I wrote bijective instead of non bijective at the end, and i wrote min intead of more specifically minimum over Z. After discussion with vsamc, and megarnie they agreed I should have gotten a 7 on this problem because i demostrated that I knew how to solve it. Is it possible to protest my score, and get into MOP.

Help would be greatly appreciated :surrender:

Subset coloring

Source: USAMO 2015 Problem 3
Let $S = \left\{ 1,2,\dots,n \right\}$, where $n \ge 1$. Each of the $2^n$ subsets of $S$ is to be colored red or blue. (The subset itself is assigned a color and not its individual elements.) For any set $T \subseteq S$, we then write $f(T)$ for the number of subsets of $T$ that are blue.

Determine the number of colorings that satisfy the following condition: for any subsets $T_1$ and $T_2$ of $S$, \[ f(T_1)f(T_2) = f(T_1 \cup T_2)f(T_1 \cap T_2). \]

SMT Online 2025 Waiver
techb   20
N Apr 12, 2025 by techb
I registered as an individual as an early bird. I'm sure some of you guys who are taking this exam too, have received an email containing logistics. In that, there is the Google doc "Your Guide to SMT 2025 Online". I have a question. There is the whole section about waivers, which I have to fill out before competing. According to the doc: "Students will not be permitted to compete if they do not have a completed waiver by the start of the competition.". My question is what are these waivers for, as I have not applied for financial aid. My parents hasn't received any email about the waivers. "Please allow a day for waivers to be sent to parents and for waiver completion to be reflected on the student dashboard." I also don't have any waiver completion notification on my comp.mt(student dashboard).

Please respond fast.

I think those are liability waivers (so we can’t sue if something goes wrong)

I believe waivers will be distributed to parents tomorrow or day after tomorrow. The organizers are probably waiting until student registration closes. Student and Team IDs will be given on the on the 10th(day after tomorrow) as seen here.

When I took it last year, the waiver took forever to send (I think like 4 days?).
You should probably just wait it out

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do. Thanks a lot, everyone, for confirming that this isn't only for me. I was really panicking for a sec there. My guess is that all specific details(ids, waivers, discord, etc.) might arrive on April 10th.

According to the Google doc, "Please allow a day for waivers to be sent to parents and for waiver completion to be reflected on the student dashboard." My parents have successfully completed the waiver; however, I don't seem to see it on my comp.mt(student dashboard). Can anyone else see it?
