Parent Tools

The Parent Tools system allows parents of students in our online school to track their students' progress. This system is available to parents of students in all classes but Special Seminar courses and WOOT.

You can receive weekly and on-demand reports of your student's progress, as well as receive any class-related emails that are automatically sent to your student. Once you are signed up for a particular class, you may opt in or out of any of these features as you wish.

What Information Do These Reports Contain?

The weekly and on-demand reports of your student's progress contain links to a Progress Report and a Problem Report.
  • The Progress Report gives a brief, printable overview of your student's progress so far in the class. The bars on the first page will match what your student sees on the Report Tab of their course homepage. The rest of this document outlines upcoming and past-due assignments, as well as describing how you can read the report.
  • The Problem Report gives a more detailed breakdown of your student's homework performance. Select an individual week to view the homework problems and your student's answers. If your student's class includes writing problems, you will be able to view your student's solution as well as the resulting score and feedback from the instructor when it's available.

The automatic course emails sent to your student's account, which you can opt to receive a copy of, may include the following.
  • Weekly class reminders, sent early in the morning the day before class. These emails contain information about the upcoming class, as well as an update on homework progress. Upcoming due dates, as well as any overdue assignments, are noted in these emails.
  • Notifications when a student's Writing Problem has been graded. The email will contain a link for students to visit their course homepage, where they can view the score and feedback. You can use Parent Tools to generate an on-demand report to review the score and feedback.

How To Sign Up

Before we can share data on student progress, we need permission from the student's parent or guardian. We sent an email to the address provided during the order with a form that must be signed and returned to in order to enroll.

If you did not receive or have misplaced this email, you can first verify your identity on this page to have the email resent. Contact us at if you believe there is an issue with your order email.

Please note: the email address you provide for Parent Tools does not need to be the same as the email from your original order. If you wish to sign up for Parent Tools, we recommend using an email address that you check regularly so that you are able to keep an eye on your student's progress. We will only use your Parent Tools email address to send information about your student's class progress.

You, as the parent or guardian, may also permit a local teacher, school administrator, or other person to use Parent Tools to receive updates on your student's progress. To sign them up, simply write in their email address on the sign-up form, instead of your own. This will not prevent you from also signing yourself up for Parent Tools, as well.

Changing Parent Tools Settings

Please sign in to Parent Tools. Once you've verified your identity, you can change whether you receive weekly progress report emails and/or a copy of any email sent to your child. Check the "(un)subscribe to weekly progress report emails" and/or "(un)subscribe to student emails" boxes, depending on what you would like to do, then click the "Submit" button.

Generating A New (On-Demand) Report

Please sign in to Parent Tools. Once you've verified your identity, please check the "Request progress report" box, then click the "Submit" button. A report will be generated and emailed to you shortly.
