Upcoming Debate Tournaments

by Wolstenholme, Oct 1, 2014, 1:00 PM

So because of our performance at the Mid-America Cup, the coach of our school (who essentially thinks Public Forum is for babies and that Policy is the only debate worth doing) has reluctantly signed us up for more nationals!

My partner and I are now going to Dowling Catholic, Blake, and Emory. If anyone from AOPS does debate, hope to see you there! I've found that the cross-over from math and debate is almost negligible, but hopefully this is just because I don't know enough people.

What kind of science stuff? Research or USAPhO/USNCO/USABO type competition? I've personally never been particularly good at science :( - I tried taking USABO one year and didn't even come close to semifinalist :P. Hence, I just stick to debate.

Also you're the first person I've ever learned of that does/did PuFo and math (at IMO medalist level :D ) - that gives me hope!

USNCO/USABO and probably some science bowl for fun. I might try some research next year. Huh I think there should be more math guys who do debate too..
