hm this is a really weird effect, almost an optical illusion (at least for me it is).
If you play 16384 Hex for some time and exit, everything will start to look extra "rectangular". It's weird.
Over the next few days I'm gonna be doing what I told Tiks I would do over the summer...make another promo/gameplay video for Mathfights. I'll be sure to share it here first XP
A little while ago, I made this post about heroes on happyeagle's blog; I encourage you to check it out.

So on 7/29 at 4:13 p.m. Pacific time, I'm doing my calculus homework, and I accidentally go on this free online tutor site or something. I'm bored and this

My adventures in Math (1A)
It's 7/29/14, and we just got our second midterms back today.
hm-3rd highest score in the class.
Like last time, there still wasn't a perfect score. The highest score in the class was a 99, followed by a 98, then my 97. (out of 100)
I could've easily gotten a 100 though, and although I could be really angry and frustrated, I know I should try to look on the bright side.
That's what humans do right? We always look at the little negative things, but we ignore all the good things that happen.
I missed two problem on the first page. Here they are:
There were two other problems like that but those were fine for me.

I did what I've been doing fairly often recently: I split it into two fractions and differentiated those separately. At the end when I combined them together again, I got
hm but apparently the answer is
so oh well
(lol I still can't find where I messed up the sign)
Minus 1 point for that random error

This was so bad. I forgot what the derivative of log x is.....
But hey never fear. I'll derive it!
I proceed to do something like this:
$\y=\log_a x $
(So far so good)...but then I keep going....

And I try to differentiate from there. I end up with a really ugly fraction:
which I don't even know if it's right or not.
Since that's obviously not right, I try to just do the case for
.
I go:
but then do the exact same thing, never realizing that...
where
is a constant.
The whole time I should have just stopped at
or
and done implicit differentiation from there, like:
![\[ 2^y = x \]](//latex.artofproblemsolving.com/6/a/0/6a08b38569a938fb916caf4a0d00f2860ed46cd6.png)
![\[ 2^y \ln 2 \dfrac{dy}{dx} = 1 \]](//latex.artofproblemsolving.com/f/7/9/f799cc07f123c8cabd2339da752806cbd65d1a17.png)
And remember our first line?
![\[ \dfrac{dy}{dx}=\dfrac{1}{x \ln 2} \]](//latex.artofproblemsolving.com/a/e/7/ae766f96dd3593326e5474b5210f38968ba3e6aa.png)
ugh I ended up just trying one of my failed derivations, but in retrospect, I guess that was a good thing because I got some credit.
One of the terms in my crazy expression was part of the answer, and my teacher just took off 2 points.

Some (kind of a lot of) epic items

You guys know sh4931? Here's his amazing (electronic) music skills. I really like his newest song, Dragon Spirit
I believe thatmathgeek, has made some YouTube videos for his songs. Be sure to check out his blog for some of those.

On gmail I just got another video from one of my favorite YouTube subscriptions, Anthem Lights
They're a really cool band because besides making their own (awesome) music, they do a ton of epic covers and mashups. Please check them out. All four guys are really good at singing, and one of 'em is actually starring in a movie coming out this fall.
Here's the video I just got in my inbox. It's a cover/mashup of two famous songs from a famous DJ

hm it's the end of July. darn school starts in less than a month

wowwowo friends and I been waiting for this for so long.
The last movie in the best movie series ever (including LoTR stuff)
sigh* I have to learn the intro to this song when my hand gets better.
Oh announcement:
