Guardians of the Galaxy review
On Monday, I went with some friends from church to see Guardians of the Galaxy at 10:15 in the morning. It's really special when compared to other superhero movies in that it's a lot of comedy. So you know how most superhero movies (Avengers, Captain America, Spiderman, Batman, X-Men, etc.) are all about action? There's cool explosions, fight scenes, vehicles flying/crashing/shooting, and all that intense stuff. However, Guardians of the Galaxy had a bunch of comedy as well as action. I don't want to spoil it for you if you haven't seen it, but in a lot of those "intense" or "touching" or "poignant" scenes, you get trolled by some random comment or something.
Now for the plot:
It has a decent plot line, but because it's a Marvel thing, it's kinda intertwined within other stories. The movie-makers did a pretty good job of keeping it simple so that people watching it could understand it without having to know a ton of Marvel comics stuff. There aren't that many plot twists, and the few that do happen aren't too big, so the movie is pretty straightforward. The ending (or resolving of conflict) is kinda cheesy, and it leaves room for a sequel (that is coming out !yes!)
The movie is actually mostly family-friendly, with not too much violence. Also, the violence isn't terribly gory. There are a few bad words (s and b word no more than 5 times and that's about it), and there was a surprisingly low amount of sexuality so that was good.
Life Lessons:
So, uh, cherish your parents. <- that's good.

two books I read recently
Lord of the Flies -William Golding
Right Ho, Jeeves -P. G. Wodehouse
Reading a collection of Father Brown stories right now. Father Brown is basically another Sherlock Holmes. Some people say he's better, but I can't tell. However, Holmes stories I think are better.
What a depressing and deep book, like almost all other "classics."
I hate how the meaningful/useful characters die. There are maybe 5 guys (yes!) that I feel connected to (you know those characters in books and movies?), and two of them die. In the end though, the book is a pretty good satire on society.

Truly one of the funniest books ever. Highly recommend it. The English may be a bit hard to read, but it's not that bad. The insults and descriptions are so funny.

Swim team
So on Tuesday I went back to swim team for the first time since I broke my wrist (June 14/15th ish?). Now it's been 4 days back, and just yesterday (Friday) I felt the pain of being out of shape.

new piano teacher
Today (Friday) I had my first piano lesson since I broke my wrist. It was with a new teacher too. To start, I had to sight read the secondo part for my brother's duet, and apparently my sight-reading skills aren't too rusty.
I'm supposed to be picking new pieces: a sonata, a bach prelude, and a chopin waltz.
