Problem writing

by math_explorer, Mar 16, 2013, 10:19 AM

Somehow I came up with a few problems that didn't seem to suck, and I just submitted two to my country's selection process.

Is it normal to grow increasingly convinced while you're staring at the problem that somebody out there has to have thought of the idea before?

I have a problem that I'm pretty sure nobody out there has thought about it. Obviously I cannot test the above hypothesis (feasibly) though.

Aren't you still eligible for your country's selection process?

I think a lot of countries run their national olympiads where participants can still submit problems, i.e. US Physics Team Members can submit F=ma/USAPhO Semfinals Problems.

I'm eligible but not competing any further this year, so unless my problem gets selected for APMO or something (yeah, right) I won't get tested on it.

No more competing towards IMO this year. High school is too short.
