Team Contest Round 1

by djmathman, Jul 11, 2013, 2:47 AM

The top 12 teams moved on to the second round.

Our team tied for 13th place.

I was off by one on the last question I tried.

My teammate also made a stupid mistake on the last question he tried.

We also didn't see an obvious symmetry on another of the last questions we had.

To compliment all this, I was kicked off of another team because their point value was too high, and that team ended up coming in first.

I don't think you have any idea how pissed I am right now.

Wow the team contest at Cornell is a lot different than the one at Dallas. At Dallas there was only one round. Is point limit 18 points(that was the Dallas limit)? However, your situation really sucks. At least, you (hopefully) had fun solving problems with your friends .Did you get 2nd chances on problems(if you missed it they gave it back to you)?

i feel really bad for you :(

idk how, but my team did really well (beat lots of teams better than us) with a 41 and made round 2

@54math: Our team contest has three rounds. The first and third are styled similar to HMMT Guts, while the second is proof based. And yea, the limit was 18 points.

@mathgenius64: We were in the townhouse, and I was waiting out the storm with a friend. During that time, Danny told me my results.

  • Do you have a link to your main blog that you started after graduating from high school, I couldn't find it. @dj I met you IRL at Awesome Math summer Program several years ago.
