Fourth Semester

starts next week! I head off to campus tomorrow afternoon, and then I'll have a few days there before I start classes (Monday is MLK day and so we have off).
This semester, I'm taking the following courses:
Also, CMIMC is in two weeks!
TIME TO PANIC
This semester, I'm taking the following courses:
- 21236: Math Studies Analysis II. This is the continuation of 21235 from last semester, which was far and away my most difficult class conceptually. I believe we'll be going into Lebesgue integration this semester, but other than that I have no idea what to expect. Unfortunately, the professor from last semester will not be teaching, as he's spending a semester researching at Brown. But apparently the other professor is very good as well, so that shouldn't be a problem.
- 21238: Math Studies Algebra II. This is the continuation of 21237 from last semester. We ended last semester by going over solving systems of polynomial equations via e.g. Gröbner bases and Buchberger's criterion; I believe this semester we'll be slowly working our way up to Galois theory. Once again, the professor from last semester will not be teaching (maternity leave). I don't know anything about our new prof this time around, though.
- 21301: Combinatorics. I never really did get good at combo during my olympiad years, and although I certainly don't expect the class to be overly difficult, maybe I'll come out of this class with a greater appreciation for the discipline. Plus, John Mackey is teaching it!
- 80387: Philosophy of Logic and Language. This is a general education requirement that just barely counts as non-technical. Should be more interesting than a general Philosophy class, hopefully.
Also, CMIMC is in two weeks!
